SAA strike called off05 Aug 13 Laborstart The South African Municipal Workers' Union (SAMWU) said at the weekend the strike action by its members at South African Airways (SAA) has been called off. Employees downed tools over a week ago following a wage dispute with the airline. Over 4000 workers took part in the protests. SAMWU said SAA implemented their rejected wage offer of 6.2 percent while its members are demanding an 8.3 percent salary increase. The union’s Vincent Masoga said, "We have decided to call off the SAA strike for cabin crew and ground staff. We have continued talks with management and we are hoping we’ll see some fruitful solutions." |
