Public Workers’ Union on Strike Today

ADEDY, the Greek umbrella union representing state workers, on Wednesday announced protest action against layoffs in the public sector that is expected to affect services and traffic circulation in downtown Athens.

The union has called a strike from 11 a.m. on Thursday and through Friday for all civil servants in Attica, with a march to the Finance Ministry in Syntagma Square at noon. On Friday, protesters will rally at the Administrative Reform Ministry on Vassilissis Sofias Avenue at 10.30 a.m.
