Alcoa Says West Australian Workers Plan More Industrial Action

Feb. 12 (Bloomberg) -- Alcoa Inc., the largest U.S. aluminum maker, said the Australian Workers Union has notified the company that some industrial action is planned for Feb. 12, 16, 17 and 21. “Alcoa has plans in place to minimize any impact on the business, and is committed to negotiating in good faith to achieve the best outcome for both parties,” it said in a statement on its Australian Web-site. A planned two-hour strike at Alcoa’s mines and refineries in Western Australia is expected to proceed today, Michaela Southby, a spokeswoman for the New York-based company, said today in a phone interview.
