New assembly of Kraft Foods workers to unlock the conflict16 Oct 09 Laborstart The workers’ union delegate Maria Rosario, told an Argentine news agency that in the workers’ assembly to be held today at 2 pm they would accept the proposal submitted by the Labor Ministry. The delegate said it is not all what the workers intended but “is a step” and noted that the arrangement foresees the reinstatement of 40 layd off workers and all those suspended. Furthermore, the workers’ committee, which term has expired, will continue in office until new elections take place. With regard to the situation of some 23 workers who would not recover their jobs, it was said that each case will be evaluated in the Labor Ministry of Buenos Aires. Yesterday, in a lengthy meeting in the Ministry of Labor, headed by the Argentine Labor Ministry, Carlos Tomada, and his colleague from Buenos Aires province, Oscar Cuartango, together with representatives of workers and the company, an agreement was dsigned. In the agrrement the company is committed to maintaining all workers in their positions, keep current working conditions, working hours and shifts without alterations of any kind and expressly reaffirmed its decision to continue full activity in our country. |
