Most of the 1,000 Indonesian workers in South Korea that had been retrenched due to the global economic crisis have managed to get new jobs in the country, said Korean ambassador to Indonesia on Wednesday.

"There are actually less than 1,000 Indonesian workers in South Korea who had to be sent home because of the impact of the global crisis," said Ambassador Kim Ho-young.

"But President Susilo BambangYudhoyono made a special appeal this year asking for efforts from our government to find them new jobs. Now, around 90 percent of those workers have already got a new job," added the embassy’s political counselor, Kim Gunn.

There are around 30,000 Indonesian workers in South Korea.
